Born at Eskifjörður, Iceland, in 1918, Sigurjónsson studied at the Conservatory of Reykjavík with Árni Kristjánsson. Further studies followed in Paris with Ciamp; and in New York with Sascha Gorodnitzki. After a very successful debut concert in Washington D.C., mr. Sigurjónsson has given concerts with great success in the U.S.A., Canada, all the Scandinavian countries, Germany, Austria, Soviet Union, Rumania and of course in his homeland Iceland. On his extensive tours he has also appeared with various symphony orchestras both in west and east Europe and played in radio and TV which has also contributed to his widespread popularity. He is now the head of the advanced piano department in the Conservatory of Reykjavík.
