Which dialects is Nynorsk based on
There is a common misconseption that Nynorsk is only based on the dialects of Vestlandet. This probably based on the fact that Vestlandet is the part of Norway where Nynosrk is most common today. Nynorsk was however mainly based on dialects from Vestlandet, inner Austlandet, Trøndelag and southern Nordland. Old Norse was used as a tool to find common ground where the dialects differed.
