Meta:Requests for adminship
Most requests should be listed here for at least seven days; bureaucrats should only close after the minimum time foreseen in the relevant policy. Discussions are not closed early. Adminship will be granted by a support ratio of at least 75%. If a request hasn't been addressed by a bureaucrat after a lengthy period of time, please leave a note at Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat. Requests may be extended, or put on hold by bureaucrats, pending decision or finding of consensus.
Requests for temporary adminship and bot requests may be less formal and often go for a shorter duration if consensus becomes clear after only a few days of discussion.
All editors with an account on Meta, at least one active account on any Wikimedia project, and a link between the two, may participate in any request and give their opinion of the candidate. However, more active Meta editors' opinions may be given additional weight in controversial cases.
See below for information on prerequisites on submitting a request, and how to add a nomination.
Information
Note that this page is for access on Meta only. See the permission request to stewards page for adminship/deadminship requests on other projects.
Regular adminship
- Before requesting admin access, please check the policy for requesting adminship.
- Use the box below, insert your username:
- Place a request on this page, by transcluding the subpage, for example
{{Meta:Requests for adminship/Username}}
. Please put the newest request on the top. Bear in mind that even if you do meet the criteria above this does not mean that the community will automatically approve a request. - Please note, past administrators who have given up their rights must meet all criteria at the time of the new request. There is no separate process for reinstating past administrators.
Please note: Ill-considered nominations for adminship can be draining and deflating to both the community and the candidate. Any successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate sufficient experience within the Wikimedia community, in addition to a familiarity with Meta-Wiki. If a candidate is not already a local administrator or holder of advanced permissions on a Wikimedia content project, they are less likely to pass a request for adminship here at Meta-Wiki.
Bureaucratship
Add your request below under the bureaucratship section. Please note:
- Only active administrators can become bureaucrats, and only after at least 6 months of regular adminship.
- User is endorsed by two current bureaucrats after he/she nominates themselves here.
If you fail any of these requirements, you will not be assigned the bureaucrat flag. For more information see Meta bureaucrat page.
Other access
For these types of access, create a subpage just as you would for regular adminship and add it to the appropriate section of this page.
- Interface adminship: Please read the Meta interface administrator page. The WMF requires two-factor authentication for this access.
- Limited adminship: If you need sysop access for a particular reason (such as ability to edit protected pages), you may request limited adminship on Meta. If granted, the user understands that they will only be allowed to use the tools for the tasks they were approved, and not doing so will be grounds for immediate removal. Temporary sysop access will normally be valid for one month unless requested and granted otherwise.
- Bot: Please read the bot policy. This wiki allows global bots and automatic approval of certain types of bots; for other bots, add your request below under the bot section, in the same way as an admin request.
- CheckUser: please read the CheckUser policy and add your request below under the checkuser section, in the same way as an admin request.
- Oversight: please read the Oversight policy and add your request below under the oversight section, in the same way as an admin request.
- Translation administrator: please read Meta translation administrator page and Meta’s page about translate extension. No fixed time limit for these requests is defined, and there are no particular requirements; if you provide a valid reason and demonstrate that you know and understand how to prepare pages for translation, your request will most likely be granted.
- CentralNotice administrator: Meta Central notice administrator page grant access to manage and edit banner campaigns. Because of the potentially huge impact of banners on the wikis, this should be granted carefully and sparingly. The WMF requires two-factor authentication for this access.
For these types of access, just ask on Meta request for help from a sysop or bureaucrat page:
- MassMessage senders: please read about MassMessages, and provide a clear reason for requesting access. Specify whether you need it temporarily or permanently.
- Uploaders
- Patrollers
Requests for global renamer permissions are handled at global permission requests to stewards page.
WMF Office Staff and Contractors
- If you are an WMF Official or Contractor and need rights on Meta-Wiki to perform your duties the process is different. Please have a look at the WMF staff userrights policy on Office wiki[restricted access] and follow the procedure described there. If in doubt, please contact Trust and Safety; or send an email to cawikimediaorg.(source)

After some consideration, as I have seen an increasing amount of use cases for local admin actions, as well as encouragements from some of my steward colleagues, I'd like to throw my hat in the ring and offer to help out as an administrator here on Meta.
As you may know, I'm a steward who was elected in this year's election. I've been quite active in Meta work and at the time of this RfA I have made 3,500+ steward actions. As a steward I'm already allowed to make some admin actions here in accordance with MSR (which I already do to this day), but I frequently find that there are useful admin actions which I can't make as a steward, mainly page protections but also some deletions of pages which are not pure vandalism or spam as well as other routine work. As such, I've already been tagging pages for speedy deletion in more cloudy cases and have requested admin actions from other admins, mostly through IRC and also through RfH.
In short; most of my local admin stuff here on Meta-Wiki will still be on the anti-abuse side, although I'm of course open and willing to help out with other administrative stuff. If this is successful I mostly plan on helping out at RfH and through #wikimedia-metaconnect, and as I am a night owl who has HexChat/IRC and Discord open throughout most of the day, I'm able to quickly act when needed.
As usual, since I'm not a bot I am of course prone to making mistakes, but I am always open to, and thankful for, feedback, and I always want to learn from my faults. I have admin experience, as I am a sysop on two large wikis, namely the Swedish Wikipedia and Wikidata. Lastly, in case of any questions here, just feel free to ask! Thanks and regards, EPIC (talk) 19:05, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

- As I've privately said to you, I think your action rate is problematic. You end up making a lot of mistakes, and honestly with how many actions you do it's hard for the rest of us to provide any oversight. I won't oppose this as I doubt you'll misuse the tools... but I also don't really want to endorse this. – Ajraddatz (talk) 01:56, 25 March 2024 (UTC)
- Well, thank you for your feedback Ajraddatz. I have of course made some rookie mistakes some time after I began my tenure, but luckily I think I've generally been able to avoid mistakes by avoiding the stuff that makes me prone to them, and learning from the ones I make. But absolutely, I do agree with you and I plan to take it slow, and take breaks when I need them. Main reason I have been quite active here for the past while is because I rarely have anything else to do, but that will probably change in some time as I have some schedules in real life I need to take care of. So, yes, some activity decreases will come. EPIC (talk) 06:34, 25 March 2024 (UTC)

- Support Yes, you've made mistakes. But from what I've seen, you've been quick to acknowledge them when pointed out, showed no sign of rudeness or otherwise concerning behaviour, and making mistakes in general is OK. In fact EPIC mentions MSR... and some users here have been rather stubborn in ensuring that stewards do very little using MSR rights. As a result, I find myself with no choice but to support, because you kind of need Meta access for what you're doing (which is entirely reasonable as a steward). I'd also encourage the MSR policy to be less open to conservative interpretation by users (and to be more open in general), but that isn't your problem. Leaderboard (talk) 13:58, 25 March 2024 (UTC)

- Support I understand the concerns brought up by the opposers above, but overall I think this will be a net positive as EPIC is clear on what he is doing and what he wants to do. I think EPIC is quite active, especially on IRC, and is very responsive to queries/requests. Hence, I think having him in the admin team will help to keep vandalism and LTA attacks on guard. With that being said, @EPIC: please take breaks when necessary as no one expects you to be the most active steward/admin. It is better to be correct than to be fast. Hi! I am Count Count, dewiki checkuser & admin, global rollbacker and abuse filter helper. My main area of work is fighting cross-wiki spam, I'm the developer of spamcheck, a frequently used tool [1] at Talk:Spam blacklist now that COIBot is no longer working. Seeing that only a few of the meta admins are active handling SBL requests I want to help out. Of course I would also help with (global) filters, deleting spam pages and invalid translations as well as fighting vandalism on meta. Since the admin rules on meta differ a bit from dewiki I would only handle clear-cut cases in the beginning. --Count Count (talk) 15:24, 27 March 2024 (UTC)

Good day. I've been active with dealing with LTAs for quite some time. I often come across information that needs to be suppressed and have been knocking on the doors of our local OS team. As far I can see, a large composition of the team are from a wholly different time zone as me (+8) and getting a response during their silent hours can take quite some time. As such, I'd like to volunteer and I'm familiar with the OS policy as I'm a suppressor on Commons. Thank you for your consideration. --Min☠︎rax«¦talk¦» 03:23, 28 March 2024 (UTC)

I should be considered for an admin role due to my extensive experience, dedication to the community, and proven ability to handle responsibilities effectively. My commitment to upholding Wikipedia's standards and fostering a positive environment aligns well with the responsibilities of an admin, and I am ready to contribute to the continued success and growth of the platform.

- In addition, your statement is weird and appears to be from a user that doesn't seem to know what this wiki is. To me it seems like you want translation adminship though?
