Icelandic writers and academics have frequently opted to invent new ones or repurpose old Icelandic words to keep the language "pure" from foreign influence. ::::*Oh. I just realize something. I heard that Icelandic is originally from Old Norse. Icelandic language don't make a lot change in North Germanic language. About 1,000 years ago, The Vikings brang the Old Norse language to Iceland, then Old Norse becomes Icelandic later. But, the spelling of vocabularies and the grammar don't change a lot, the systems still base on Old Norse, just make a little bit changes. So, most Icelandic people can understand the ancient literature of Viking Age and the ancient literature of Iceland easily.
::::I think Icelandic language is "kind of" an old language because it still using a lot of old words from Old Norse. That's why Icelandic language is very unique and special in Europe. Is that one of the reason? Or not really? I don't know if my view point is right or wrong? Please feel free to explain me more. I would like to know more about the Icelandic language.
