: Hello TKSnaevarr. Here are my questions about Icelandic language. Well, I'm currently trying to learn Icelandic language. Because I love Europe, I would like to learn more about Europe, so I've learn a a lot of European languages, include Icelandic language. However, I realize that Icelandic language is a very difficult language in Europe. The reason is most vocabularies are very different from other European languages. So, here are the examples:

: In this chart you can see many words of spelling and pronunciation in Icelandic are totally different as English.
*So, my question is: why Icelandic language is very different with English and other European languges? In English and other European languges, they borrow most words from Greek or Latin. But why Icelandic language adheres to use their own words? why Icelandic language don't borrow words from Greek or Latin? And Icelandic, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian are North Germanic languages, but Icelandic is not even close to Swedish, Danish and Norwegian. Why Icelandic don't follow the rules? Why Icelandic is very unique and special in Europe? I believe there must some reason. I'm apologize for asking you the taugh question, but hope you can answer it if you can.
